At Camping Les Rochers des Parcs

 Wednesday 15th April

This afternoon's walk took us up hill from the campsite and onto the Voie Verte (old railway line) and over the huge viaduct.

We looked down onto the canoeists having fun.

At the other end of the viaduct, we went down the many steps to the road and walked back along the riverside.

Then up into the village of Clecy, with it's attractive houses and sculptures.

We sat with this view of the Tourist Information office having a cuppa.

After that little rest, we went to see the most amazing model railway exhibition we've ever seen.  It was built by one man (Yves Crue) and his son over 40 years in a disused lime quarry.  The son, Emmanuel, runs it today with great pride.  It is such a large layout that to picture all the detail is impossible, but Emmanuel pointed out various humerous touches, like smoke coming out of a burning house, a motorhome fallen into the water off a jetty and screaming coming from a haunted house!  That's Emmanuel behind the layout.

Centre of this picture is the motorhome in the water, below the fire engine.
Then the lights were turned off and we could start looking from the beginning again, to see the whole scene lit up.  Just amazing!

The castle in the distance.

In addition to the layout building, the old lime kiln building now houses a little cinema to see photos of the huge amount of work went into converting the quarry into the fun park it is today.  We had a ride on the train that took us around the gardens too!  There's a cafe, and for children there's an enormous train bouncy castle.

Having walked over the viaduct today, it was appropriate that we finished the jigsaw below in the evening!
